Our experience is that a deliberate, thoughtful, grant planning process results in the most successful applications. The CRR approach to grant writing is one of collaborative vision development. We can take your vision for organizational improvement and work with your staff and/or community collaborative to develop that vision and help to create a proposal that meets the requirements of the funding source. The better we understand your vision, and how it relates to the needs of your organization and client base, the more successful we will be in securing funding through grants.
In this hyper-competitive grant climate, it is time to use an expert for grant writing. Creative Resources & Research is highly effective at producing successful proposals. CRR grant writers boast a funding rate of approximately 86%. In some grant categories, our rate is 100% over many years of writing. Our grants have secured over $147,000,000 for our clients.
Fees for grant writing are based on the individual needs of each client and the specific grant being written; however, in most cases, the following fee structure applies.
Grant Writing Fee Options – Call a CRR representative to discuss your project in order to determine which of these options may apply.
This structure gives CRR flexibility to work out payment options that best fit the specific project to be written.
Contracts for grant writing for grants for non-governmental non-profit organizations are charged according to the following fee schedule Our fee structure for non-profits does not usually include a contingency fee structure in alignment with the ethical standards of the Association of Fund Raising Professionals for non-profit organizations.
Level I - grant amounts from $10,000 to $99,999

Level II - Grant amounts from $100,000 - $1,000,000+ per fiscal year
A flat fee of $10,000 is charged for writing grants within this range unless an application requires a level of staff time that exceeds the commitment we would customarily anticipate in the development process. The fee in these instances is negotiated on a case-by-case basis with the client. Fees for grants over one million dollars are negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
Level III – Grant amounts from $100,000 and upward
CRR sometimes writes proposals on a percentage contingency fee for grants of $100,000 and above. A contingency fee option is offered at the sole discretion of CRR. A contingency arrangement always requires a review of the client’s circumstances and an assessment of the likelihood of a successful proposal prior to approval. CRR charges a percentage fee that is reasonable and which takes into account the reality that in such an arrangement, CRR bears the entire fiscal burden of producing the application.
More commonly available is a fee option consisting of a small flat fee ($3,000) PLUS a percentage (6%) of the grant’s first year’s funded amount should the grant be funded.
If a grant we write is not funded, CRR will revise and resubmit the original proposal to the same program the following year using feedback from the reader’s comments. We do not redevelop proposals or write entirely new proposals under this provision, nor will we rewrite the proposal for a new funding source under this provision.
For non-profit clients, there is no additional fee for rewriting and resubmitting an unfunded proposal to the same funding source for the same program.
CRR provides review and critique services for clients who want to write the grant themselves and then have it reviewed by an expert prior to submittal. As part of this service CRR experts will work through two or three complete review and critique cycles, providing written comments with very specific recommendations for improvement. While the fee for this service varies, based on the type of grant involved, fees typically begin at $1,500.
Foundation grant research is a time consuming and detail-oriented process. In addition, unless you are close to a non-profit library and have the time to spend there, good research generally requires a subscription to a costly online database service. CRR maintains subscriptions to the best of the online databases and our staff has extensive experience conducting research. We charge a nominal monthly fee for conducting grant research to produce viable grant leads that can then be pursued through Letters of Inquiry and/or through grant proposals.
